PTA Updates for 5/12/2024

Happy Mother's Day! A few reminders and updates:

• We had a great time spoiling our amazing teachers and staff last week! FIESTA was the theme, complete with Anita's breakfast burritos, lunch from Chipotle, "frozen Cardinal punch" from Smoothie King, and fiesta-themed snacks!   
• Bike and Walk to School Day was a huge success!  211 Total participants, congratulations, Cardinals! And a big THANK YOU to the Mayor, Chase, and the Vienna police officers! 
• Read-A-Thon results are in:
  • Top readers were Felix Born, Madison Wachtel, Savannah Noel, George Hall, Connor Trubisz, Leighton Standiford, Devin Suthrave, Christian Echivarrio, Sofia Spencer, Henry Hall, Calla Standiford, Dylan Nowaczyk, Bejamin Ward, Ashley Grimm, and Maddy Kristic.
  • We raised over $7,000 and over 104,000 minutes were read! Awesome job!
• If you haven't already, please RSVP to our last PTA meeting on Tuesday, May 14 from 6:30-8pm. You and your family are encouraged to come early for a fun garden clean up as well (3:45-5:45pm)!
  • During the PTA meeting we will be voting on board members for the 2024-2025 school year and hearing a garden presentation from Mrs. Coles and Mrs. Pereira entitled "Thanks for Letting Us Grow with You: Where the Garden Has Been and Where It Is Going." 
• Our next Dining for Dollars is Tuesday, May 21st at Chick-Fil-A in Vienna!
• We are still accepting gently used CPES spirit wear! You may drop items off to the school office. 

• Yearbooks are still on sale!  Yearbooks are $25 by June 1st and will be available for pickup at Cunningham Park. Yearbook purchased after June 1st will be $30 to account for shipping to your home.

A few reminders and updates this week:

New to CPES? Here's what to do now.

Do you have a Kindergartner starting in the fall?  Or are you moving to the area and have students starting at CPES in the fall?  We can't wait to have you join our CPES Cardinal community!  Don't forget to register your student with the school's front office if you haven't already.  (school contact info here)

Here's what you can do now in order to be "PTA-ready" for the fall:

1. Sign up for the weekly PTA Newsletter.  Details and instructions are here.
2. Follow the CPES PTA on Facebook, (click here) and also join the group for your grade (search for "CPES Class of 20XX" - rising Kindergarteners are class of 2037!)
3. Participate in upcoming Dining For Dollars (list here)

Finally - create an account here on our PTA website. While you don't need it right now, you will eventually need to have an account in the fall for the directory (to both access the directory and add/update your info).  Plus having an account makes credit card payments and pretty much everything else on this site a lot easier.
